Use of UV radiation in water 

It is an effective and environmentally friendly method of sterilization, commonly used in water filtration systems for both households and industries. UV radiation helps make water safe from pathogens without the use of chemicals.


The principle of UV radiation in disinfecting

  • Ultraviolet (UV) radiation is in the wavelength range of 200–400 nanometers.

Limitations of Using UV Radiation in Water

    • Water that is cloudy or contains suspended particles will reduce the effectiveness of UV radiation.

    • Unlike chlorine, which leaves residual substances in the water to prevent new contamination, UV radiation has no effect on preventing contamination after passing through the system.
